Rose Isle Station - Shearers Quarters
About This Listing
'Rose Isle' is a grazing property located 70 km down stream of Bourke on the Louth - Bourke road part of the Darling River Run with beautiful river views and peaceful camp sites, accommodation for fishing, camping, hiking or just relaxing in the back country. We have powered and un-powered spots for caravans, camp trailers, boats and tents, but also provide shearers quarters accommodation for those travelling without setting up their own camps.
'Rose Isle' is only 30 km from Louth, so makes it a great central spot for day trips to hike and visit Mt Gundabooka, Louth, Toorale Station, and nearby towns Cobar and Bourke.
The historic Rose Isle house was built in 1897 by the Faulkhaguan family. There has only ever been 2 owners of the property the Faulkhaguan family and the Mooring family.
We, Garry and Samantha Mooring have lived at 'Rose Isle' with our family for the past 30 yrs, with Garry's family here before that. We run sheep and cattle; Samantha also runs a catering business (Mitchell Catering) with her mother and sisters. As a working property there are often seasonal activities such as shearing that you may like to see and be a part of.
We can cater for overnight visitors with dinner and breakfast, and will also prepare homemade packs for your day trips.
You only need 2 as a minimum booking for a home cooked four course meal but keep in mind we can also do the same for up to 200!
Come and see the real outback!
